On March 25, two of the most iconic comic book characters will be doing battle on the big screen.
The film has been eleven years in the making and definitely is one of the most anticipated flicks of our time. Lets cast our minds to its foretelling, exemplified in Will Smith's I AM LEGEND (see image below)

Beyond the razzmatazz of show business, this is no George Foreman vs Muhammad Ali. In other words, it is not a battle amongst equals, though one must applaud the effort to market it as a balanced struggle. In real-life tussles, victory between evenly matched opponents are decided either by a momentary lapse or by unanimous decision. Mismatches usually end up in dire consequences.
In the comic world which isn't bound by the rules of reality, of course Batman can duke it out with Supes. We've seen Ironman take on the Hulk and win, Dead-pool wipe out the entire marvel universe.
So a battle between a billionaire dressed a bat and an invulnerable alien shouldn't raise any eye-brows, except in this case, it has not been done on the big screen.
Lets pause for a moment and look at the battle through a different angle, a more philosophical lens. 'cause this struggle might mirror the everyday upheaval we experience.
Superman is not impressed by Batman's crime fighting methods and wants to shut him down while Batman on the other hand is highly suspicious of a powerful alien with zero accountability. Some in the public ask what gives either of these gentlemen, the right to "police" them without any oversight?

The latest trailer of the movie has its director, Zack Synder, in his best "Vince Mcmahon" impersonation tring to hype this movie along these lines. Hashtag Batman or Hashtag Superman. But who cares?
Anyway not to sound like a kill joy, lets just humor it a bit and create the narrative of who would be the likely winner. Now everyone knows Superman. He is invulnerable, has super-speed in fact got super-everything while Batman got one of the most awesome minds, extremely rich and intelligent and has mastered all the martial arts in his spare time. With or without kryptonite, Supes' achilles heel, does Batman have a chance? Hmm.. hell no. His equalizing factor would be that he is cool and a fan favorite. Other than that, he is toast when paired against the seemingly invincible might of the son of Karl-EL.
Batman's motivation as enumerated previously is that he does not trust Superman and having been an eye-witness to the near destruction of metropolis, further reinforces that mistrust. To Supes, the caped-crucader might be an annoying bug but nevertheless the questions he is raising, should bother his conscience and needs answering. Is he a danger? Can he trusted? If he were to lose control, who and what can stop him? Knowing Bruce, he won't sleep till those questions are answered. Mere assurances would not satisfy him. He would want a device, kryptonite, anything that would mitigate the danger of a MAN-OF-STEEL gone rogue. That could be a balancing factor in this mismatch - A very restrained Superman. Unwilling to use his powers to resolve Batman's provocations. In order to show the world, that he can be their trusted guardian.
Not to include any spoilers, we know how these cross-overs go. The main characters slug it out, then team up to face the common threat. Sounds fixed, don't you say? Then again, who cares.
Come March, grab your tickets, popcorn and hopefully it would be a great flick and provide the much needed entertainment and impetus, Warner Bros needs to kickstart their cinematic universe.
