World War Z

Thor: The Dark World

Xmen: Days of Future Past.

Captain America:Winter Soldier

The next "Amazing Spiderman" sequel will feature Electro as the main Antagonist. Jamie Fox will be playing the part. The short video introduces the character in a cool way.
Electro is a super-villian who gained the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning while working on a power line.
"You want to know how powerful I am?" Foxx whispers in the clip. "Well, I want to know too."
There might be new trailer shown at the Comic-Con 2013.

Are you watching,Milla Jovovich? War War Z is a zombie movie done with care. Touted as an adaptation of a book with the same name by Max Brooks , although the movie bears little semblance to it. The flick stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who travels the world to find a way to stop a zombie-like pandemic. This is one nerve-racking ,pulsating film designed to keep you at the edge of your seat.I love the movie's dynamic nature, shuttling from Philadelphia to Korea one minute and to Israel, the next.Bringing different perspectives to the picture.
(Spoiler Alert)
Gerry must navigate his family through the midst of the chaos that eschews from the Zombie outbreak in Philadelphia. His skills as an investigator are needed to find Patient Zero and a rescue helicopter is sent to take him to a aircraft carrier where his family will find shelter for the remainder part of the movie.
A smart move by the writer as it frees Gerry from the burden and monotony of the protecting his family throughout the course of the movie. So with his family safely secured, Gerry jets off to  South Korea with a virologist Dr. Andrew Fassbach to locate patient zero and find a vaccine for the virus.
Soon after landing in the military base, the virologist's life is cut shot abruptly when he falls on his gun during a skirmish with zombies on the base.Which now leaves Gerry as the sole hope to find a cure. His interview with an ex-CIA captive in the military base reveals his next destination - Israel. The Israelis had fortified and quarantined safe areas with their cities based on prior knowledge of the epidemic.

No sooner had Gerry arrived in Isreal, did the zombies figure how to scale the high fortifications surrounding the cities . Sounds from the megaphones seem to draw them and ignites a feeding frenzy. A frenzy that revealed my squeamish side. In the race to escape the zombie onslaught, Gerry notices that a frail old man and a boy possibly ailing from cancer, were avoided by the zombies. While escaping, Segen (Daniella Kertesz), Gerry's escort, is bit by a zombie. Gerry quickly amputates her arm to stop the spread of the infection.

They manage to stow away on another plane after the pilot who had brought Gerry flees in panic. The plane charts course to a WHO research facility in Cardiff. When they were just about getting to their destination,an air host unwittingly unleashes a zombie tucked away behind the toilet door. This causes Segen to launch a grenade at the zombies thereby disintegrating the plane in Ironman 3 like fashion while in midair.

Gerry along  with Segen, somehow survives the air cash. They march their way to the WHO research facility. On getting there, Gerry postulates that the virus selectively ignores seriously injured or ill individuals. To prove this, one has to inject oneself with a curable pathogen. Sounds like a plan, right? The problem is the vials are stored in a wing of the facility that is infested with dormant Zombies.
After a series of cat and mouse manuevers,Gerry finds himself locked inside a pathogen lab with zombie as its guard. The only way out is for him to try out his theory.  Zombies subsequently act like he is not even there after he injects himself. This then provides the much needed ammunition for the human offensives that begin against the zombies.

This is a far more intelligent movie from say, the Resident Evil franchise. I suspect there will be more spinoffs from this effort. Like the book, it has brought new life to the zombie genre.

Gel Toro's Pacific Rim is a visually stunning entry to the summer block-buster movie roster.
The story is about Aliens, Kaiju Monsters who invade Earth from a portal on the ocean bed.The humans then construct Jaegars to combat the invaders. These massive Jaegars are controlled by two pilots who are "mind-melded" by a neural bridge. One of such battles is seen at the start of the movie which results in the death of Raleigh Becket's brother. He goes a self-imposed exile but then recalled after many years by Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elber ) who needs experienced Jaegars fighters to carry out the continued defense of the motherland.

As the movie progressed, the aliens increased their frequency and numbers in entering the rift. With each entry , the monsters had a commiserate increase in size and adaptation to the Jaegars' arsenal.
In the final onslaught, it would require Raleigh (Charlie Hunnam ) and Mori who have now formed a formidable team to destroy the bridge that links both worlds.
In between that, there were stunning visuals of fight scenes between the Jaegers and the Kaiju accompanied by massives and wilful destruction of buildings and property . Which makes one wonder if the  protectors of the earth were not just as effective as the aliens in oblilatering civilisation.

The story is as original as it is one-dimensional. Be-plagued by poor character development and weak lines. The best writing was left for Idris Elber as evidence in his numerous speeches. Judging by the crappy lines that the rest of the cast had to recite, maybe Elber improvised onscreen.
It takes great villains to produce great heroes . The Kaijus don't fit that bill. Inherently mindless clones sent to destroy human cities. The Director showed no inclination to at least portray their own view of the world and their quest. That is left to one of the scientists who finds a way to mind-meld with the Kaiju's to understand their intentions.

The downside of this is that the audience possibly could not root for the protagonist because of the story's predictably or even share in the their state of danger.
If you are into video-game-like movies then this flick is for you. I felt it was like Battleship all over again.Surprisingly, it has been well received by critics. Maybe they know something I don't.

For a lot of people ,the award winning TV series, the Game of Thrones is a very unlikely place to get career advice. But the George Martin TV Adaptation is so brutally honest and unpretentious that one can actually learn a few things for it. So I compiled a montage of few instructive things from the show that may help folks in making better career decisions .

1

Networking might be, the one skill to rule them all.
Robb, the General who never lost a battle, was outwitted by one who forged alliances that ultimately lead to his cruel assassination at the "Red Wedding". The lesson to learn here is that no matter how strong one's core competence is,effective teamwork will produce better results. Network and build strong partnerships.

2

Look before Leaping.
The decimation of The Stark bloodline would not have occurred if the Lord of WinterFell had honestly evaluated if he was a right match for the position of the King's hand. Many a times people take on enticing positions they have no clue about when approached by head hunters. For example, the post of King's hand required the skillful manipulations of a politician, Eddard Stark was a just good soldier.Lesson to learn: Study the skills needed for your new position ,well as the company and, bear in mind that all that glitters isn't gold.

3

Know the rules of your Profession.
Tyrion Lannister used a loophole to escape certain execution when he was held captive in the impregnable Eyrie Castle. Most institutions like Westeroos make tough decisions based on their legal system even when it not expedient.

4

Trust no one.
Always be aware that the forces of self-preservation could cause a trusted colleague to throw you under the bus if his position is threaten. Qhorin learnt that the hard way. When push came to shove, Jon sacrificed him to gain favor with the wild-lings. So be careful of what you say and write. Also, document important conversations and decisions.

5

Be more Competent than those you lead.
Daenerys tried unsuccessfully to take leadership of the Khal after Drogo's demise. But his blood riders would not accept a woman. Also, her rousing speech later on was greeted by desertions? Why ? because She had not earned the respect of her followers even though she had royalty flowing through her veins. All that changed when she emerged from the smouldering ashes with three dragons. "Blood of blood", echoed all around because now they believe she could protect them. Anyone in position of leadership should demonstrate at least some level of competence than their followers.

6

Go along to get along
Sansa Stark dumb looks and gullibility certainly saved her from sharing the same fate with her father. There might be wisdom in sometimes not appearing to be the smartest guy in the room. It becomes apparent when juxtaposed with her mother's rash mistake of kidnapping Tyrion Lannister. A decision which set off the tragic chain of events that ravaged her family.

Thrive for enduring harmony and friendly ambiance within your team and try not to outshine the master while you are it.

7

Guard your Reputation Jealously .
The Lannisters like all great companies spend billions on branding. That theme is prevalent throughout the series. Protect the Lannister name, the family name is above all else. Take a cue from this.Protect and enhance your reputation, credit rating above all else.A Lannister always pays his debts.

8

Chaos can be a Ladder
Little Finger exemplifies perfect timing and astute understanding of the way the world works. He rose from being Master of Coin to a High Lord by cleverly meandering through the chaos that proceeded the death of King Baratheon. Even the Spider, Varys is scared of him. As the saying goes , don't let a good crisis go to waste. Choose your sides carefully with your end goal in mind.

9

Jerks tend to advance faster
What good thing can we ever learn from the enfant terrible of the series, you might ask? Before going any further, I'd like to commend Jack Gleeson on his brilliant performance in the role of Joffrey Baratheon.Once upon a time, I had a colleague with the same temperament. And guess what happened to him? He got everything he wanted! I won't advice taking this route for career growth but somehow it inexplicably works.

10

Master the Art of Negotiation
One of the coolest scenes in the series was when Daenerys outsmarted the slave master. She showed business acumen there , won't you say? Regardless of the bad economy ,that has made it an employer's market, one should acquire this crucial skill.
It may very well be the difference between perpetual servitude and enduring happiness.

Almost everyone on the planet must have heard abut Superman. The "S" logo on his chest is the most recognizable symbol after the Christian cross. He sort of represents what everyone wants to be :fly, have super-speed ,invulnerable etc. But for those of us who are not so familiar with his story ,let me give a little recap without the risk of spoilers .
Jor-El sent his newly born son Karl El along with the Codex on a one way trip to Earth because Krypton was facing a pending cataclysmic destruction. Meanwhile, General Zod who is the movie's antagonist wants the Codex (the base genetic material that Kryptonians are engineered from ) in order to rebuild Krypton on another planet. Zod's rebellion was crushed. He along with his minions were placed in the phantom zone as punishment for their crimes. I really liked seeing Krypton as it once was. Teeming with life. It was sad watching it explode to smithereens.

Before going further, let's place this movie in context. The first Superman movies with Christopher Reeves, made Superhero movie genre a force on the big screen. Things turned a bit sour with the Superman III movie and went from bad to worse in Superman IV. WarnerBro saw the writing on the wall and decided to pull the plug on further Superman movies. It was later persuaded by the success of Marvel's Xmen and co and commissioned  a new movie titled Superman Returns with former Xmen director Bryan Singer at its helm. That installment gathered mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. A few of the criticisms were that fans were tired of seeing Superman lift things or they had seen too much of Lex Luthor . Fans wanted to see Supes battle his equal Mano-a-mano.And in the era of special effects, it would be a sight to behold, they enthused.

After living under the shadow of the Batman , whose movies have been a commercial and critical success, WarnerBros thought it expedient to bring in the man who made it possible to apply his midas touch to the Superman franchise. Chris Nolan went about trying to infuse a bit of realism into Superman . Some of the causalities were the underpants ,followed by the substitution of spandex with a more armor like material. The "S" symbol was also redesigned.

Mark Snyder of 300 fame was brought in as the director. A man who is renown for great action sequences. But for all Synder's dexterity as a director , retelling the story of Superman will pose a very steep challenge.Even with the success of the Nolan Batman's trilogy, DC  trying to start off its own cinematic universe ala Marvel had failed miserable with Green lantern. A lot of expectations were placed on this movie to kick start such a universe.

Also, the stoic nature of the hero makes it difficult for the audience to relate to. You see unlike Spider-man who has real life issues or Batman who can be hurt , the attributes of Superman, his invulnerability et al has somehow become an Achilles's heel .  A trend also seen in the comics followed by drop in sales. Usually a distant second to Batman titles. I was curious to see how Zynder transforms the character to one the audience cares about? After all ,his predecessor  had tried unsuccessfully to bring a more human element to the character but that came off as too gloomy.

(Spoiler Alert)
Anyway back to the movie. The director spares us from watching about 30 mins of familiar origin story by using flashbacks to narrate the Clark Kent's journey on Earth. A journey to find who he is and his purpose. While this was going, Zod and his crew had broken out of their prison and plotted their course towards Earth to retrieve the Codex.

Zod announces himself to the world in a spectacular fashion . Challenging the world leaders to give him ,Karl- El or face annihilation. The human forces obliged and hand Superman over to him. Protagonist and Antagonist come face to face for the first time in the movie. Zod explains his plan to rebuild Krypton on Earth. Karl-El finds out that Zod's plans is with a proviso, he intends to restore Krypton on Earth without it's Aborigines. This plot seems a tad similar to Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

This ultimately set the stage for the big showdown. The visual effects really shine and at the same time felt overused. At times, it felt like one was watching a senseless video game. Credit to Zynder though who went a step above the Wachowski brothers ala Matrix Reloaded ,in making a more sensible duel between two invulnerable characters.

A few other things about the movie to note were the arguably drab performance of Amy Adams as Superman's main squeeze. The romance scenes with Superman felt forced. It just didn't flow naturally. Maybe it is because Lois Lane knows that Clark Kent is Superman. Then again that is a departure from previous storyline between the two. That twist was probably added to avoid the pain of explaining how Louis Lane does not recognize Superman from Kent's bespectacled disguise.
Also the movie desperately needed some humor just a tiny bit.

What Karl-El lacks in charisma of say an IronMan, he makes up with big punching action.
One might get lost in all the punching and collapsing debris till Superman snaps General Zod's neck. Yeah you heard me, Superman KILLED Zod!
I read Superman comics as a boy and it always empashied this goody too shoes theme of Superman not being able to kill. But here in this movie, he did.

Some cry hypocrisy to those who are bashing Zynder while overlooking the fact that in the Christopher Reeves Superman II, Supes "killed" a powerless Zod by nudging him into a bottomless pit.Maybe Superman should have gone in between the heat vision and the people.
Then outwit Zod in someway like Neo did Agent Smith.

If fans have any issues with this movie, it would be this scene. It also seems ironic that Zod - a son of Krypton made invulnerable under our yellow Sun could die the way he did especially after getting smashed through buildings and surviving without a scratch.

The movie was littered with depictions of Superman as an analogy to Jesus Christ . There was even a marketing drive aimed at actually communicating that message to the Church.
One scene in particular was where Jor-El told Superman to go and save them and he then flew out of the spaceship in a cross like position.  Another one was in Clark Kent sitting in church next to an image of Jesus.

Some Christians vehemently oppose such comparison and stayed away from the movie for that reason. We know controversy sells so it probably had a net opposite effect on others to go watch the movie.I don't think that comparison exists even though there were attempts made in the movie for the following reasons.

Firstly and most importantly, Nobody prays to Superman .
Secondly, Jesus Christ is the Prince of peace while Superman violently broke Zod's neck while smashing various buildings and so on. Don't be a killjoy,it's just a movie.Come on.

Anyway this movie looks like a promising start to DC cinematic universe.Though I wonder how the Nolan's Dark Knight realism ties into the fantasy world that this Superman lives in, with it all culminating in a Justice League Movie sometime in the future.

Hi this my list of characters or personalities I enjoy the most.
Look at the list maybe you will find some characters you enjoy as well as I do. Then we can have something to talk about.

Snake (Metal Gear Solid) No. 10

Is always unlikely that an all-action figure gets to be enjoyable but Solid Snake is as enjoyable as it can get. Solid snake or Snake is a video game character and the main protagonist of the Metal Gear series.Solid Snake is a combination spy, special operations agent, and mercenary who works for FOXHOUND, a fictional black ops and espionage unit, and Philanthropy in later games. He is repeatedly tasked with disarming and destroying the latest incarnation of Metal Gear, a bipedal, nuclear-weapon-armed mecha. He is voiced in the Japanese and English releases of the games by seiyū Akio Ōtsuka and actor/screenwriter David Hayter, respectively

D'Banj No. 9

Though he is not renowned for lyrical content or his vocalistist skills, D'banj is definitely one of the most charismatic musicians in the world. He has contributed vast amounts of lingo to the pop culture in Africa such as "fille"-leave me, "The koko","No Long Thing" etc.
An African Icon through and through

Kratos No. 8

The Protagonist of the greatest action game of all time. Kratos is unforgiving , ruthless and an around fighter. The game play of the "God of war" is easy and very friendly.

Donkey Shrek No. 7

Eddie Murphy's role as the donkey was simply fantastic. The donkey was a pain to Shrek throughout the movie and was such a nuisance. Definitely one of my best characters.
Examples of some conversations between donkey and shrek.
Donkey: Whoa. Look at that. Who'd wanna live in a place like that?
Shrek: That would be my home.
Donkey: Oh and it is LOVELY. You know, you're really quite a decorator. It's amazing what you've done with such a modest budget. I like that boulder. That is a NICE boulder.

Donkey: You, uh... you don't entertain much, do you?
Shrek: I like my privacy.
Donkey: Y'know, me too. That's another thing we have in common. I hate it when you've got someone in your face, you try to give someone a hint and they won't leave, and then there's that big awkward silence...
[big awkward silence ensues]
Donkey: ... Can I stay with you?
Donkey: Can I stay with you? Please?
Shrek: Of course.
Donkey: Really?
Shrek: NO.
Donkey: Please. I don't wanna go back there. You don't know what it's like to be considered a freak... Well, maybe you do, but that's why we gotta stick together. You gotta let me stay!
Donkey: We can stay up late, swapping manly stories, and in the morning, I'm making waffles!

Micheal scofield No. 6

The main guy in the Prison Break series . He is smart , very calculative and meticulous. If he brought out more laughs i think he could be closer to one. but he is most people's favorite characters.

Bugs Bunny No. 5

The most iconic cartoon character of all time.
In 2002, he was named by TV Guide as the greatest cartoon character of all time.[1][2] His catchphrase is a casual "What's up, Doc?", usually said while chewing a carrot. His other popular phrases include "Of course you realize...this means war" and "Ain't I a stinker?"

Indiana Jones. No. 4

Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones, Jr.[1] is a fictional adventurer, soldier, professor of archaeology, and the main protagonist of the Indiana Jones franchise.
As a kid, i always enjoyed Indiana . He is such a cool character.

Chris Rock No. 3

Definitely the funniest man in America. The reason he is the only on on my list with his real name is because he acts himself. Chris Rock plays Chris Rock everywhere on his show and in real life .

Captian Jack Sparrow No 2

Captain Jack Sparrow is a fictional character from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise who is portrayed by Johnny Deppand my very best character. His a wannabe pirate with no rule and conscience and muddle trough everything
A survey of more than 3,000 people showed Jack Sparrow was the most popular Halloween costume of 2006,[65] and a 2007 poll held by the Internet Movie Database showed Sparrow to be the second most popular live action hero, after Indiana Jones

Homer Simpson No 1

Now that is a character.Homer is one of the most influential fictional characters on television, having been described by the British newspaper The Sunday Times as "the greatest comic creation of [modern] time". He was ranked the second greatest cartoon character by TV Guide and was voted the greatest television character of all-time by Channel 4 viewers. In 2000, Homer, along with the rest of his family, was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.Source:wikipedia.

Top Ten Villains

Love them or hate them, villains bring out the best in our heroes and make the story the more interesting and intriguing. Even though we all want to see the good guy win in the end, everyone loves rooting for the bad guy. Here is my list of some of the best villains.

Bowser No. 10

The bag guy in the Mario series. Mario was the most popular video game for a time and I believe the bag guy of the series played a huge part in it.

Sylar NO 9

This is a super-powered hero that kills other super heroes and steals their abilities in the "Heroes Series".Now this is a bad guy after my heart. What makes the "Sylar" character so cool or rather bad is that he is so human and touching in his evil ways yet so unstable. He is so bad, he killed his own mother!!!! If you were having any doubts, am sure they have been erased by now.

JAWS NO. 8

No talk,No implied or imagined threats . Character building is a no no. All the guy wants to do is eat YOU.Period! The film made The Great White Shark the ultimate bad guy.The movie had scenes that sent chills up many a movie-goers spine when it was released. Jaws is horror movie classic and so is its antagonist.

AGENT SMITH NO 7

Love the Matrix, don't you? Boy! That was a movie! Well, anyone who has seen the matrix would definitely love Agent Smith. He has everything you would want in your bag guy he is very nasty, he hates humanity and later on machines. He was a perfect nemesis for neo in fact his exact opposite.

Voldemort No 6

So Evil that one should never mention his name. Harry Porters dark nemesis in the series, Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter, who according to a prophecy has the power to defeat him. He is described as "the most powerful Dark wizard who has ever lived", and aims to conquer not just the Wizarding world, but the Muggle (non-magical) world as well. He is so feared, that almost no one uses his real name referring to him, instead, by saying "You-Know-Who" or "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."

Freddy Krueger No 5

No Villain List is complete without Freddy. Created by Wes Craven and portrayed by actor Robert Englund in every film of the series, he is an undead comedic serial killer, who can attack his victims from within their own dreams. What kind of guy kills children?

(Colonel) Hans Landa

I am awestruck by the performance of Christopher Waltz in The . I was simply incredible and was not surprised by the numberous accolades that followed . Most notable is the Oscar award for best supporting actor. The complex and realistic villainous nature of Hans Landa makes him stand out amongst fellow bad guys.
Quentin Tarantino has said that Landa might be the greatest character he's ever written and he isn't far from the truth

The Joker No 3

The archenemy of the superhero Batman, and one of the most iconic supervillains, the Joker is portrayed as a master criminal whose characterization has varied from a violent sociopath who kills people and commits crimes for his own amusement, to a goofy trickster-thief.
Lots of people went to watch heath ledger's potrayal of the batman greatest nemesis and they were not disappointed. But this spot goes out to the Joker in the Batman Comics. You know, the one that killed the 2nd Robin, Jason Todd, Sarah Essen and Crippled Batgirl.

Hannibal Lector No. 2

Just the name sends shivers up movie-goer's spines. Few performances if any captured what Anthony Hopkins delivered in the classic "Silence of the Lambs" as Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lector. There is no other villain who comes close to this, because he is the complete antithesis of a villain. He's ruthless, remorseless and violent all the while still having a strange calmness in his demeanor as if he believes what he is doing is right.Voted the all-time movie villain in an American Film Institute poll, Thomas Harris' epicurean madman has been played by three actors. Audiences connected with Lecter for his majesty and eclat as much as his dark sadism.

DARTH VADER NO 1

Anyone who can destroy a whole planet with billions of inhabitants, kill 10 year old youngling, certainly gets to be baddest villain ever. The original trilogy depicts the character as a fearsome cyborg and Sith Lord who serves at the right hand of Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), leading the brutal Galactic Empire in oppressing the galaxy and hunting down the Rebel Alliance. The prequel trilogy depicts him as a slave boy who becomes a heroic Jedi Knight and hero of the Clone Wars. He then falls to the "dark side" of the mystical Force after Palpatine manipulates him into betraying the Jedi and destroying the Galactic Republic.
